Third time’s a charm

I didn’t think i had the space for another, not after the first two.

But my heart, my mysterious heart, had space for more.

I’ve known you a long time now, longer than the other two.

And what can i say? You know me better than them, surely.

Little speech passes between us, and yet we seem to understand each other perfectly.

You are one of the three that truly light up my day, and you do so more often that the other two, for you aren’t afraid of showing that you care.

A quick glance in the corridor, a wink, a wave.

That’s all it takes to lighten my day.

You are a creature of emotion, as am i, but you have mastered control, which you demonstrate.

Most of the time.

Your courage in showing your contempt for this erosion in our small community has moved me. Perhaps it is our shared heritage as true members of a great institution. Perhaps not.

But nonethless, your care and concern for us has always been something i admired in you.

I’ve observed you, as i have many others, over the years, and time and again your sheer selflessness broke my heart.

You’ve dedicated your entire life to us, and i’m honored to know you.

Everytime i see that big, goofy smile, it makes me feel that everything’s going to be alright now. 

Everything.

You are so strong for so many of us; i have always wondered if there was someone there for you.

If so, how was that person like?

It seems you know quite a lot about me, and yet i know little about you.

Funny, it seems my relationships are taking a pattern.

But i’m determined to change that one day, to break down barriers.

To get to know you, to share that burden that i know you carry.

Simply because i want to.

Just to let you know that i care, because you’ve cared for me.

Shown me kindness in moments of sheer humiliation.

I’ve been looking for that care for a long time now, and though i love the first two greatly, i love them for different reasons.

I love you simply because you care.

As they always say, third time’s a charm.

And i agree.
